Biography

Dayan Wu received the BSc degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2014, and the PhD degree from University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in 2019. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a research intern in Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA). Since July 2019, he has joined Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IIE, CAS) as an associate professor. He has obtained awards such as the Presidential Excellent Award of CAS, Outstanding Graduates of UCAS and Beijing, Nomination of Excellent Doctoral Thesis of CAS, First prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. He is also a member of Youth Committee of CICC and Youth Innovation Promotion Association, CAS.

Research Interests

My research interest is to apply deep learning and cryptographic technologies to build efficient and secure systems for large-scale multimedia processing. My current focus is large-scale multimedia retrieval, which aims to:

  • Explore how to generate discriminative and compact features for general large-scale multimedia retrieval.
  • Explore interesting and brand new problems in a variety of practical image retrieval tasks, such as person ReID, vehicle ReID, drone-based geo-localization, etc.
